Meet our doctors and staff:
Dr. Olding performed 3 years of undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University with coursework in engineering and biology before getting into optometry school a year early. He then graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2008. He spent 3 years working at a private practice in southern Ohio where he specialized in contact lenses and ocular disease.
Dr. Olding has been with Professional Eye Care at Westar since January 2012. He has special interest in treating and managing glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, dry eye syndrome, and fitting contact lenses. He is also very passionate about preventative healthcare through screenings and nutritional testing. He is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.
Dr. Olding and his wife Becky have 3 children – Tyson, Drew, and Olivia. In his spare time he enjoys watching Ohio State athletics, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family.
After an undergraduate degree in Premedicine from the University of Dayton, Dr. Feltz completed his doctoral program at The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1995. He was appointed a position in the highly competitive residency at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. Dr. Feltz helped establish Professional Eye Care at Westar and has been a consultative Optometrist for Westar Urgent Care. There he is involved with eye trauma and infectious disease cases, as well as urgent care staff training and education.
Dr. Feltz volunteers in Jamaica at a mission center that delivers eye care to the underserved Caribbean nation. He and his wife Patty have three children and are active volunteers in school and church. Dr. Feltz is also the head coach for boys’ volleyball at St. Francis DeSales High School and St. Paul School in Westerville.
Michael Dugan is the Practice Manager at Professional Eye Care at Westar. He has a multitude of responsibilities that include overseeing the staff and the day to day operations of the office. Michael’s most important responsibility, however, is to ensure that every patient “leaves with a smile”.
Michael has been an Optician, Lab Manager, and Practice Manager for over 20 years. Michael joined Professional Eye Care in May 2016 and came to us with a wealth of information and knowledge. He is eager to help both patients and staff solve any issues they may have.
Michael is originally from Akron, OH. He moved to Columbus in 1999, shortly after becoming a Licensed Optician. Michael is the youngest of 8 and loves spending time with his family. In Michael’s spare time he also enjoys cooking, spending time with friends, golfing, and cheering on Ohio State.
Emily Denney worked as a medical assistant in family medicine for 8 years before starting in an ophthalmology practice where she worked as an optician and ophthalmic technician for 4 years. Due to her love for the optical field, she later obtained her Ohio Opticians license. She joined Professional Eye Care at Westar in the summer of 2017. Emily will help you pick the best frame for your face shape and the best lenses for your visual needs.
Emily lives in Johnstown with her husband Eric and her two children, Marques and Lilyana. She enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, and working out.
Tina McClain has been a member of the Professional Eye Care at Westar staff since the summer of 2014. She came to us with 9 years of experience in the retail optometry field as an Optician. She loves working with patients and helps select the best options for your eyewear and lifestyle needs.
Tina lives in Lancaster with her husband Jeff. They have two children, Chelsea and Austin, and they added their first grandchild in Sept 2017. Tina loves to bake, shop and enjoys spending time with her grandchild and family.
Kourtnee Derflinger joined Professional Eye Care at Westar in July 2017. Although she has only been an Optician for a short time, Kourtnee is fantastic at selecting the best eyewear for each patient. In fact, helping patients select eyewear is her favorite part of work. Kourtnee is eager to learn as she prepares for the state board exam to earn her opticians license.
Kourtnee lives in Johnstown where she loves to spend time with her family, playing with her dogs, and spending time outdoors.
